Lesson 3.4   Character Format   Tags in Common Use

HTML has several tags   that   can be   used    to format the contents of   the   HTML document. The   tags can   be grouped   as follows:
Ø  Physical formatting tags

The  physical  tags  are   those  which  define  or  alter  the  characteristics  of  the  text  to   which  you  apply  the  tag

           
Ø  Logical formatting tags


 Logical tags describe the “required effect” of the   text.  The actual   display   is controlled by the browser.

Physical tags   are   interpreted in the same way by all browsers. Logical  tags  are  interpreted  according   to  the   browser  in  which   the  HTML  document   is  displayed.
